Window shopping in a branded store
Closet is full but still need some more
Waxing, manicure and pedicure
High heels, spas, feet are sore
Stomach is full but eyes need more
Talking like a nun, actions are hardcore
Thoughts are flying, heart is kissing the floor
Body all grown up, soul needs to be mature
Mini skirts and bare skin
Nothing left to explore
Body, booty and selfie shots
Eye lashes, nails nothing pure
Soul is dying but there is no cure
Catching sharks with fancy lure
You will regret, what you now ignore

It is a constant fight to not get caught up in it all…not because of the attraction of the lifestyle but because it is like a poison, creeping into every aspect of our existence. Working on self awareness and reading great poetry helps!!

You wrote such a lovely poem! We women are so guilty of the selfie! Of trying to get the perfect picture, duck face just so we can get a guy. But sometimes we just need to be ourselves

It’s a sad fact that life is like that for many people nowadays, and not just the youngsters. I can never understand the obsession with shopping, self image, or the constant need to take selfies! Nicely expressed.

You are right .and that’s so true what you said Obsession with shopping ”
I think media is forcing us to buy what we don’t even need

I know the image, but you probably won’t believe me if I tell you that most of the women I know are very reasonable using their makeup, dress quite modestly and are loved by their husbands and boyfriends 🙂 Young girls simply need a good example of modesty, elegance and health. Unfortunately, the media gives them exactly the opposite – all the useless things you mentioned in your poem.

I am agreed with you .they are role model for us .its a human nature that we all want what we don’t have .grass is always looks green on the other side 🙂
Media is forcing to buy something or be something what we don’t even need .friend of mine bought a Apple watch for 18 grand and he wore it only twice .

Thank you for liking “Autumn Moon” and for following my blog. I like this thoughtful poem. It makes me sad that this is the “ideal” lifestyle perpetuated by society and the mass media. What is ideal about it? Eating disorders, excessive debt, and broken relationships are some of the unfortunate consequences people experience as they try to live up to this ideal, and in the end they are still unhappy. An overly materialistic and self-obsessed culture breeds discontent and dysfunction.

I don’t understand poetry much, but love to read them from time to time, if I can understand them. Loved the simplicity and the depth of this one. 🙂
